Description

Color Blindness is caused when there is a problem with color sensing part of the eye in certain nerve cells of the eye. These cells in the eye are called cone cells, which are located in the retina.

Signs or Symptoms
Some signs or symptoms of color blindness includes having trouble seeing colors and the brightness of colors in a usual way. Also people may not be able to tell the difference between different shades of colors. Some people may not realize that they even have color blindness because they may have just been born with it, but most of the time parents usually figure it out that their children have color blindness because they may have trouble in school or not being able to learn their colors at a young age.

Types of Color Blindness

Some people may just be missing one pigment, and have trouble telling the difference between green and red, this is the most common type of color blindness. Other times people have trouble seeing blue-yellow colors .Usually people with blue-yellow color blindness also have trouble telling the difference between green and reds too. The most severe case of color blindness is called achromatopsia this is where a person can see no color at all. This type of color blindness is usually associated with lazy eye, which people may experience small jerky eye movements, be sensitive to light, and have very poor vision.

Treatment

Inherited color blindness cannot be treated or cured. But on the other hand some vision color defiencey problems can be treated. One way that it can be treated is by wearing certain glasses or contacts to help identify the difference of some colors. Also if if a cataract is causing a problem with color vision, you can get surgery to remove it.
